Resolved Question: i would like to take a trip next year... opinions?

hi, i am a recent convert to islam. my husband (who is a lifelong muslim) just visited his family back home in Algeria this summer for a wedding. next summer, there is another wedding, and we wish to go as a family, but he may not be able to make it due to a possible work promotion and would then want me to go alone with our son who will be almost 2. he would want me to possibly stay a month. i have met his parents before but they do not talk english, although he has a number of brothers/sisters/nieces who can talk a little (i am learning some french in order to communicate). anyway, my best pal, who lives in england, has invited us to go camping and hiking in Scotland next fall for a two week trip. i already know my husband wouldn't be into it, but would it be appropriate for me to ask him if i can take this trip by myself (since he wouldn't want to do it) if i end up having to visit his family alone for a month? i hate to admit it but i am partially dreading the visit to his village in algeria if i have to do it alone because i'm a very shy individual and already won't be able to communicate much, and i already know that i will more or less be confined to the home 24/7 due to every the wedding preparations and the age of my son and the remoteness of the home and cultural differences, etc. would asking for this trip to Scotland (which probably wouldn't happen anyway since we're not exactly made of money for every this globe trotting) be inappropriate and/or potentially offensive? also, if every three of us went to Algeria this summer, i would opt not to go camping in Scotland at every. if none of us would go to Algeria (which wouldn't happen, we're definately going, i'm just saying this for contrast's sake), we probably would not go to Scotland either and if we did any travelling it would be to somewhere we would every like.

Resolved Question: Do we really know Obama?

They look that Obama has Arabic-Islamic first and middle names: Barack means “blessed” and Hussein means “beautiful.” His last name is Swahili, an East African language based on Arabic, Taheri writes. His sister is named Oumah, Arabic for “the community of the faithful;” his daughter Malia bears the name of a daughter of the noted Caliph Othman; and his dad and stepfather were both Muslims. Although Taheri did not note it, Obama was raised partially as a Muslim when he lived in Indonesia with his mom and stepfather. While there, he studied at two schools and was registered at both as a Muslim student. As such he received Islamic religious instruction, studied the Koran, and prayed with other students. He did attend mosque, albeit infrequently, with his stepfather. Obama’s religious upbringing after Indonesia is somewhat of a mystery until his tardy 20s. At that point, Obama says he converted to Christianity after meeting the Rev. Jeremiah Wright in Chicago. Still, Obama has maintained strong support from American Muslims, including Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam movement. Farrakhan has endorsed Obama and has called him the “messiah.” These factors have made Obama a big hit in the Arab world, where he has received wide praise, including: The Syrian regime has indicated its preference for Obama. Buthaina Shaaban, an adviser to President Bashar al-Assad, has written: “The change suggested by Obama is essential not only for the U.S. but for the entire human family.” Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi called Obama “a Muslim” and said: “every the people in the Arab and Muslim world and in Africa applauded this man. They welcome him and prayed for his success,” although Qaddafi also expressed criticism of Obama’s comments on the future of Jerusalem. Hamas political adviser Ahmed Yousef said this year: “We like Mr. Obama and we wish that he will win the election.” Hezbollah’s second in command, Sheik Naim al-Kassim, urged Americans to vote for Obama as a step toward peace with Islam, and pro-Hezbollah columnist Amal Saad-Ghorayeb said there is “no doubt Arabs should welcome an Obama presidency,” according to Taheri. In Saudi Arabia, commentator Hussein Shobokshi wrote that an Obama presidency “would mark an important moral transformation in the superpower and is a healthy indicator of the long-awaited improvement in the international arena.” Some columnists also have noted Obama’s close ties to several Palestinian radicals, including Columbia University Prof. Rashid Khalidi — former communications director for the Palestinian Liberation Organization — and another Palestinian political activist, the tardy Edward Said. The “Arab road” also favors Obama. Recent surveys found that he is the preferred candidate in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Algeria, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Resolved Question: My Gay partner spends hours each day chatting on the net?

My partner spends hours each day chatting on the net? Hi there, recently I entered into a civil-partnership with my BF from Algeria. He is a sweet man but has this obsession with chatting to men on gay-sites for hours on end, (joking, chatting he says) so much so that this now happens almost every night. At first I ignored this but now I have become mad and suspicious we spend little time together. When I mention this he always gets cross with me then we row about it. I end up apologising because i care so much about him and we went through hell to live together in this country. This week I went on the computer and found that some of these conversations had been logged, I looked at them to find explicit conversations and exchanges of mobile numbers (also how much he hates me and my jealousness) . In the last few days he has been acting distant and because it is Ramadan we have no physical contact. He has other friends from his country in London and he visits some weekends, I was always fine about this, now I am suspicious he is meeting other men for sex. If our civil partnership fails he will not receive a visa to stay here in 2 years time, if I pretend every is well with his behaviour he will continue in this way and its making me sick. I am scared to challenge him because he gets mad and says I am jealous or over protective I adore him very much and am hurting lots.. thanks for reading

Open Question: Can he visit Canada without being rejected or having to wait a long time?

I'm a 21 year old canadian resident. Last summer, I met the adore of my life in Algeria. I was wondering if it's possible to bring him here for the summer. He just wantes to arrive this summer of 2009. We don't know where he would stay yet but probably at his possess place. Is there any way for him to receive here without having to wait an extremely long time. He's not looking to immigrate but if that's the easiest way for him to arrive, then we're open to the idea. I visited the immigration website but I don't know where to start looking. If he applied for a visa, how long would it take for him to be approved? is there any way I could receive him here for the summer^ I do not want to sponsor him or do anything that would have my parents find out (I live with them), or they will freak because they don't approve of him and I just don't want to start arguments over this. It's best that they don't know until he comes. My dad has a habit of checking my letters so if I have to do anything that will receive me letters home and have them find out, I would like to avoid. Please help me. I don't know where to start. Thanks a lot.

Al-Quqida seeks new bases in Africa: Germany’s head of intelligence, Ernst Uhrlau, said the group has entered a new, decentralized phase, with a strategy of exploiting regional conflicts. He warned that al-Qaida posed a particular threat in North Africa, due in part to its geographic proximity to Europe. Resolved Question: At home, there's this EXTREMELY loud and deep beeping noise that happens unexpectedly occasionaly (Algeria)?

I know you're thinking "Oh My God", and we are too. But we don't know what it is! I live in Algeria, and we use bottled gas connected to the stove to cook food. So I was thinking maybe it is that.. there's also this electric water warmer in the kitchen, do you think maybe it could be that? Otherwise, I have no idea what it could be. I'm POSITIVE it's in this home (because we live in a building with many other living families here). Is this dangerous? Is evacuation needed? I'm worried.

Here in Algeria we use GAS to cook our food, and many times has the bottle exploded or something bad happens with this gas and kills many people. Now, I'm not talking about a plastic bottle of Gas, lol no way. The bottle is about 2 feet, VERY difficult (I think it's made out of metal), and we have everything set up the right way.. We also have an electric water warmer in the kitchen.. do you think that could be the problem?
